“Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

Have you ever looked at old photos of yourself from days gone past and had someone say, “That does not even look like you.” Did you ever go to your class reunion and say to yourself about someone you are trying to remember, ” I cannot remember your name, but your face looks familiar.” That is what the devil tries to do with your past. He tries to make you remember what you used to look like and then tries to put a mirror to your face and see if you will go down memory lane.

Only the devil will bring up your past. The Bible says that God has cast your sins as far as the east is from the west. Corrie Ten Boom once said, God cast your sins into the sea of forgetfulness and then put up a sign that said, “No Fishing.” When we try to mention our past to God, He looks at His day timer from the day in question and says, “All I can see is blood stains.”

You are forgiven from your past, so do not revisit it in your mind. The more you think about your past, and the more you talk about your past, the more you will remember your past. Satan wants you to visit your past to bring you under condemnation. if you fall into his trap, you will lose your joy, your shout and your victory. Many Christians miss out on their blessing because they choose not to forget.

Next time the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future. Then get in his face and declare, “Yes, that used to be, but here is what I am now.” “And the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20).

“Renew your mind with a fresh look at who you are in Christ.”
