And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth,
and was subject unto them:
but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature,
and in favour with God and man.
Jesus increased in wisdom, stature and favor as He grew. As you and I grow in Christ, we mature spiritually as well. One of the characteristics of Jesus’ maturity we are pursuing is wisdom. Wisdom attracts the favor of GOD.
Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord, through which discernment can develop in a growing believer. There are seven pillars of wisdom, or underlying kingdom principles that undergird what wisdom does. The fourth pillar, which we will talk about now, is diligence.
Diligence is showing perseverance at whatever is undertaken. It is characterized by steady, earnest and energetic work. Diligence in the Biblical sense is a persevering application of the Word of God. Not only does diligence mean “faithful, steady, consistent work at something you refuse to quit doing,” it requires another d-word: discipline. I want to share with you something different today – I want to share with you the 6 rewards of being diligent, according to the Word of God.
1.) Reaping of Riches.
“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand:
but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.”
2.) The Diligent have Authority.
“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.”
The Diligent have a High Level of Appreciation.
“The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting:
but the substance of a diligent man is precious.”
The diligent are fulfilled.
“The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing:
but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”
The diligent are resourceful.
“The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness;
but of every one that is hasty only to want.”
The diligent obtain favor.
“He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour:
but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.”
God wants to reward you for being diligent! However, we can’t plead promises and break God’s principles. If we do the Word of God, it will work for us! Those who are diligent in seeking God, and who are diligent in all their affairs will be rewarded. This month, we are seeing the favor of God open doors, give advancements, and promote His people. We must be positioned to receive His promises! Be diligent, and be rewarded! God bless you!
